Case History and Presenting Complaints

A 14 year old boy came with a complaint that he was suffering from random and severe hair loss which had been ongoing for the past three to four months. It was a kind of hair loss appearing in different areas on the scalp in the patches and that defined the situation as alopecia areata. The condition of his hair was too bad, excessive, noticeable and was getting worse while doing the activities like combing, shampooing or even running fingers through the hair that caused concern for both the patient and family because the boy was too young to have this kind of severe condition.

There was no instant explanation for the sudden start of hair loss. Although alopecia areata is mostly connected with but in this particular case, the patient's father & grandfather had baldness significantly later on in adulthood, making genetic considerations more difficult to prove. Every specific reason could be easily identified even though other potential triggers that include reactions to shampoo, dietary factors or continuous use of a cap can be taken into consideration.

After doing more physical examination there were symptoms which were associated with alopecia areata like strawberry tongue & excessive sweating of the scalp that indicated an internal imbalance. Treatment Plan and Prescription

Month 1 Prescription

Arnica 30
Dose: 2 drops twice daily for 15 days on alternate days
Arnica Q (External Application)
Dose: 10 drops mixed with pure coconut oil
Application: Gently applied to the scalp 1 hour before bathing, 3 days a week
Argan Oil Shampoo
Usage: A small amount used after every two applications of the Arnica oil
Alfalfa Syrup
Dose: 1½ teaspoons twice daily, taken 10 minutes after heavy meals

In the first month of the treatment the doctor aimed to reduce hair fall, improve scalp circulation & make the hair roots stronger while supporting overall nutrition & growth.

Month 2 Prescription

The previous prescription was largely continued with the following modifications:

Phosphorus 30
Dose: 1–2 drops once weekly
Jaborandi Q (replacing Arnica Q)
Dose: 10 drops mixed with pure coconut oil
Application: Applied to the scalp 1 hour before bathing, 3 days a week

The internal medicines supported hair regeneration, while the change in external application further strengthened hair follicles and promoted healthy regrowth

Follow-Up and Progress

After one month of treatment, a significant reduction in hair fall was observed. By the second month, approximately 80% hair regrowth was evident in patches which were affected earlier, with improved hair texture & reduced scalp sweating.

Conclusion

A 14 year old patient who suffered from alopecia areata in his teenage years for 3 to 4 months and it was getting bad day by day. Even after trying homeopathy it was solved in the past but here is the catch that if you take homeopathic treatment without proper care and guidance it’s not going to work.
